Remodeling in Minnesota During COVID-19

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has a lot of people worried, nervous, and perhaps even frustrated. Not only is it a safety issue, it’s also just straight up inconvenient for anything related to work, homelife, and other day-to-day activities.

However, all of the social distancing, as well as the Stay At Home executive order are causing a surge in home projects. Whether it’s cleaning, organizing, redesigning, or renovating, homeowners are in their houses all day trying to find work to do amidst the pandemic.

Home Remodeling During COVID-19: Essential Services During Stay At Home Order

Something most homeowners don’t realize is that you can actually remodel your home during this time since remodeling and construction are considered “essential” services under Tim Walz’s most recent Stay At Home order (at least at the time of this writing). What this means is that you are fully allowed to outsource remodeling projects and get the ball rolling on talking with a remodeling vendor to start your dream project.

But obviously, regardless of what’s “allowed”, there are tons of concerns about safety. So, with that in mind, the question is – “Should you get a Minnesota home remodel during the coronavirus pandemic?” Here are a few thoughts, considerations, and tips on home remodeling during COVID-19:

Safety

The biggest concern of all during this time is “safety”. After all, safety is the entire reason Governor Walz enacted the Stay at Home order. While remodeling is considered an essential service under the Minnesota Stay At Home executive order, is it safe to get one done now?

This will entirely depend on which remodeling company you work with. While some remodeling companies have shut off operations entirely, there are those of us who have chosen to stay in business to continue helping homeowners with maintenance and remodeling needs during this time. But any MN home remodeling services performed during this time are done with extreme safety measures.

We are working with homeowners on: (1) distancing between contractors and homeowners, (2) social distancing and quarantine lifestyles of Stonehearth team members, and (3) only using work practices and work timelines that homeowners are comfortable with. This keeps homeowners and our contractors safe while enabling us to still get your dream home remodel done during the Stay At Home orders.

Homeowner Comfort

Everyone has different levels of comfort as well as different practices of “safety” during this time. We are taking all safety procedures incredibly seriously regarding social distancing as well as ensuring all work areas and contractors are following sanitary safety procedures, but none of that matters if Minnesota homeowners don’t feel comfortable with the remodeling process.

Our goal throughout the coronavirus pandemic is to ensure that all homeowners feel 100% comfortable with our safety practices, remodeling process, and active work hours. That means we are being completely flexible with all homeowners to work in a fashion that is comfortable for them and their family.

We’re happy to communicate to you via phone calls across the home or from one floor to another. We are maintaining social distancing, sanitary practices, and using phones/video calls whenever possible. We are adjusting work hours to fit your family’s needs and doing everything to keep our work safe for our contractors and you.

In Summary

Yes – you can start a home remodel in Minnesota during the Stay At Home order; just make sure you are working with a remodeling company that is following all necessary safety protocols such as Stonehearth. We are doing everything in our power to be flexible and meet homeowners where they are at. All contractors and Stonehearth employees are complying with strict safety protocols and doing whatever we can to keep homeowners assured of their family’s safety.
